Suzanne Vega
Suzanne Vega was born on July 11, 1959 in Santa Monica, California. She studied dance and in the mid 1970s performed as a singer and guitarist in New York clubs. The New York music scene and a Lou Reed concert that she attended in 1979 shaped her subsequent career. In 1985 she released her successful debut album Suzanne Vega. This was followed by Solitude Standing (1987) which featured the hits Tom's Diner and Luka, which were successful around the world and inspired many cover versions. Vega tirelessly supports charitable causes, among others Amnesty International.
