NEW DRAMA / STOKA Theatre, Blaho Uhlár – Pokus
In Slovakia Blaho Uhlár is indelibly recorded as the initiator of the today no longer existing alternative STOKA Theatre – a legend of 1990s theatre. He creates his most recent video and theatre productions with students of the VŠMU in Bratislava. This is a retrospective of his battle for theatre space as well as a reflection on the role of the artist in society. The last theatre romantic Blaho Uhlár nakedly reveals himself and society and remains loyal to the vain battle against developers, state culture and commerce.
The review of independent Slovak theatre New Drama is presented by the Theatre Institute Bratislava in cooperation with the Slovak Institute in Prague.
The review is accompanied by an exhibition about the history of the Stoka Theatre along with video clips from past productions.
