The history of the International Television Festival entitled Golden Prague surpassed the five-decade milestone last year (it was founded in 1964). During this time, the festival has gained international acclaim and has become a prestigious event of great importance. For a few days, Golden Prague becomes the central place in the world where the best music, dance programmes, and films are celebrated. The festival brings the opportunity to meet with world-renowned creators and their works. This is the unique quality of Golden Prague that Czech Television intends to support and develop further in the coming years.
This year the event moves to a new location, the Archa Theatre, which provides the festival with modern spaces and facilities.
On 8 October, the Closing Awards Ceremony will also be held there. In addition to the presentation of the highest prizes to award-winning international television films, the ceremony will present the best of the Czech contemporary dance scene. Artists will be from different backgrounds, whether from the National Theatre ballet or the independent dance scene. Performers include the 420 People, the Prague Chamber Ballet, as well as the Ballet of the National Theatre in Prague. For example, the best of Czech production will be represented by the artistic director of National Theatre Ballet, Petr Zuska. Also, Hana Polanská Turečková or Ivana Hannichová will present their choreographies. The youngest generation of progressive choreographers, such as Viktor Konvalinka, Štěpán Pechar, or Ondřej Vinklát, will also get an opportunity to show the audience their dance pieces.
About the prizes: a prestigious international jury again decides this year. The awards are the Grand Prix Golden Prague, which is the highest award of the festival, then the Czech Crystals in two competition categories (Documentary and Performing Arts), and the Special Mention for Extraordinary Achievement. Czech Television’s General Director, Petr Dvořák, will award the Czech Television Award to the most unusual and innovative music or dance film. Dagmar Havlová will present the Foundation of Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Award. Each award presentation will be accompanied by a short excerpt from the film and the justification of the jury.

Admission by invitation only.

You can watch the live broadcast on the channel ČT art on 8 October from 20.20!
