Archa heads to Hellerau | The Forsythe Company – Yes We Can't
After a long whole it's time to once again board the bus and head to our partner theatre Hellerau. William Forsythe, one of the world's most important choreographers, is leaving Dresden after ten years of residence, and the Archa Theatre must be there. The title of Forsythe's last Dresden premiere Yes We Can't! is an ironic reversal of Obama's election slogan.
A work by William Forsythe and the dancers of The Forsythe Company
With music composed and performed by David Morrow
The spectacle of struggle for exceptional performance is always haunted by the thrilling spectre of failure. Reflecting the resolve voiced by Beckett to ›Try again. Fail again. Fail better,‹* the deliberate staging of mishap in Yes we can’t ironically effaces the patina of excellence in performance, laying bare its inhering unsustainability and constant imperfection.
*Samuel Beckett, Worstward Ho
