AKCENT 2011 - presentation: Laila Soliman
The director and playwright Laila Soliman is a representative of Egypt’s youngest generation of artists. As an emancipated, modern artist, she defies traditional concepts of the status of Arab women.
At present, she is working on the presentation of documentary theatre, reflecting the events of the Arab Spring. She herself spent several weeks in a tent on Tahrir Square.
With Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll) she collaborated as a dramaturge on the documentary theatre project Radio Muezzin, which has been staged all over the world since 2008.
