A TRIBUTE TO THE CZECH UNDERGROUND II / IN HONOUR OF MAGOR

"A Tribute to the Czech Underground II" will take place on Saturday, November 24 from 5:00 p.m. The program will be devoted to the memory of Ivan Martin "Magor" Jirous, one of the central personalities of world underground and independent culture, who died suddenly just four days before last year's two-day festival "A Tribute to the Czech Underground / 10 years of Guerilla Records" on 9.11.2011. The performance at Archa was his last public reading. The program will kick off with a short film by Abbé Libánský "Magorova La Paloma", followed by the premiere of a composition by Josef Klíč entitled "Requiem za Magora" (Requiem for Magor). The evening will also include the pre-premiere of a film by director Oliver Malina Morgenstern who recorded footage for a feature-length film called "Rok bez Magora (aneb genius se nedá padělat)" (A Year without Magor (or Genius Cannot be Faked)). Besides the main screening at 6:00 p.m. this will also be shown in the small auditorium from 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. And in the large auditorium after the film DG 307 will present a new and very suggestive composition called "Životy? Nebo bludné kruhy?" (Lives or Wandering Circles?), which harkens back to their best work from the end of the 1970s. There will be music by Psí vojáci, who for this special occasion will perform in the formation of the original band from 1979, i.e. with drummer David Skála and bass guitarist Jan Hazuka. The finale will feature the band that is inseparably connected with Jirous' fate The Plastic People Of The Universe. In addition to their standard repertoire they will perform several new songs based on Jirous' texts. The program will also include an exhibition of the work of sculptor and musician Libor Krejcar.
