KYKLOS GALAKTIKOS
Kyklos Galaktikos appeared in the hip-hop scene only in the end of last year with their first album Osa dobra and became heard immediately. The topics they deal with in their lyrics are innovative, the renditions jocular, raw intimate, naive dreamy, yet provocative and thrilling at the same time. The music devours the senses through its variety; it can enchant with its dark beat but does not dissolve in dull structuralism. The Kyklos goes for the core, delving deep sophisticated and cruel, all the while displaying nonchalant elegance. It does show that they are willing do things their way.

PLEASE THE TREES
Coming from Tábor and Prague, this band has been influenced especially by American songwriters and is not afraid to stand up for big challenges. They are building the career both inland and in the big world. They managed to tour the USA in the spring of 2010 where they presented material from the album Inlakesh (the band had released the debut Lion Prayer two and half years earlier). The album was released just before the tour, in April 2010, in the band’s private label Absent Hour Records and was distributed in the USA. Please The Trees had another tour in the USA in the fall of 2010 during which the band recorded the third album with the tentative name Forest Affair, produced by Jonathan Burnside (he once worked with Faith No More, Melvins, and Kurt Cobain). The record will be released in the middle of 2012 and will be supported with Train To The Moon, a documentary film about the band (director Jiří Rendl). The leader of the quartet Please The Trees is Václav Havelka, a composer, guitarist, gifted vocalist (he also performs solo under the name selFbrush).
FLOEX - DJ set
The record Zorya, released by Tomáš Dvořák a.k.a. Floex last autumn, became quite a blockbuster. Not only was it nominated to the two new awards organized by two “teams” of music journalists, the Apollo and Vinyla, it has also won, and this truly is unique, no less than two style awards – electronica and alternative music – in the more business-oriented Anděl awards. If the award jury had tried a little harder, the record could appear with a whiff also in the jazz section.
Floex’s music won recognition as early as in 2001 with the debut album Pocustone, a combination of styles that had been rather discrete until then: nu-jazz, electronica, and contemporary classic music. Pocustone received much acclaim in the reviews not only in the Czech Republic (Anděl award in 2001, nomination for Qwartz, the European award of independent recording labels). The record also appears in the polls searching the most important albums released in the Czech music scene of the past decade.
