She She Pop: Testament

Testament is based on the opening scene of Shakespeare’s King Lear, in which an old man decides to leave his kingdom to his three daughters and retire. His plan, however, ends in a dramatic fiasco. Testament transforms the theatre auditorium into an interrogation room for a Utopian process, whose subject is the agreements between generations. Berlin’s She She Pop acting ensemble appear on the stage with their septuagenarian fathers!

For 12 years, She She Pop (among others) have been transforming personal themes into theatrical form. Their most recent production Testament is an extraordinarily successful example of this working method.
