AKCENT 2011 - Riet Mellink, Jiří Havelka and students from the DAMU: Neighbours

This site-specific project is a continuation of the working method that was launched as part of the pilot edition of the Akcent Festival by Dutch director Riet Mellink together with students from DAMU, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

“You will get paper, a pen, and a chair,” said Riet Mellink while giving out instructions last year. “Take the chair to any place around the Archa Theatre. Sit on it. Look and listen. Write down your strongest findings and impressions.” This produced a map of stories, which are waiting to be finished. In cooperation with the director Jiří Havelka, Riet Mellink guides students in the course of a three-day workshop to a final theatrical form.
