AKCENT 2011 - Anna Lengyel presentation

In the form of a presentation, the Hungarian theatre director and dramaturge Anna Lengyel will introduce the principles of her work, which is called Word for Word.

Word for Word is a method that stems from the principles of documentary theatre and is based on artists’ interviews with the representatives of a specific community and their subsequent stage formulation. At the same time, Word for Word is the name of a show that is a response to the racially motivated murders of Hungarian Roma.

As a dramaturge, Anna Lengyel has collaborated with important directors such as Tamas Ascher  and Arpád Schilling. She has worked internationally on the dramaturgy of shows by Robert Wilson, Declan Donnellan and Pina Bausch. Anna Lengyel translates theatre plays and also teaches at the University of Theatre and Film in Budapest. She is the founder and artistic director of the PanoDrama project.
