AKCENT 2011 - Protected Territory - documentary film by Theatre from the Passage
Protected Territory - documentary film, Slovakia, 2010
director: Adam Hanuljak
The actors of Theatre from the Passage are living their dream and they guard it carefully. They received an opportunity to break out of the anonymity of institutions for the mentally disabled, because they were given a chance to demonstrate that the boundaries of their abilities actually went way beyond what they had been told until that time. Theatre from the Passage are currently touring the United States again, but they could not be absent from this year’s Akcent festival. Thus they are presenting themselves via this documentary film.
Theatre from the Passage was established by the director Viera Dubačová as a place for theatrical cooperation between people with Down Syndrome and their non-handicapped colleagues. Last year at the Archa Theatre, as part of the Akcent 2010 festival, they presented the production 3 x A by the choreographer Jaro Viňarský.
