Divadlo Husa na Provázku: Ballad for a Bandit

A touching story of great love and even greater betrayal, of men filled with rage and women who know how to draw out and soften this rage, a story of savagery and passion.

Ballad for a Bandit premiered at Divadlo na provázku in 1975 under the direction of Zdeňek Pospíšil and featuring Miroslav Donutil, Iva Bittova and Boleslav Polívka. The play, whose music has been popularized over the years, has also been broadcast on radio and adapted into film.

The new version of the Ballad tells the story in a tougher and more dynamic way. The new musical arrangement by Petr Hromádka combines the original “Eastern” songs with ethnic music, taking aim at raw, spellbinding rituals supported by live music.
